　　《社会语言学：理论与应用（英文版）》基于作者主讲的慕课《社会语言学》讲稿而完成。它完整呈现了慕课的思想，同时还附录了慕课各个章节的参考文献。《社会语言学：理论与应用（英文版）》可以用作《社会语言学》慕课的参考资料，也可以用作研读西方社会语言学英文原版著作的入门读物。全书分为十章。第一章是总论．主要介绍社会语言学的产生与发展，基本概念．研究范式，研究方法以及与其他学科的关系。第二章到第七章是对社会语言学理论及相关研究的分述，具体包括以下内容：语言变异与变化；言语社区：多语社区话语分析；权势、同等、礼貌：语言变异研究及其方法；社会语言学的民族志学研究路径。第八章到第十章是社会语言学理论研究在教育，法律，医疗这三大领域的具体应用。

作者简介

　　李占芳，河北康保人，北京师范大学外文学院英语语言文学博士，华北电力大学外国语学院副教授，硕士研究生导师，美国亚利桑那州立大学访问学者。主要研究方向为社会语言学，英语语言教学。2009年出版专著《称谓语隐喻用法的功能研究》，2011年参与翻译国外学术名著《功能语法导论》，在国内外学术期刊发表语言学及应用语言学论文20余篇，曾获华北电力大学2011—2012学年度教学优秀特等奖。
