I build my nest in the meadows.

I love the daisies and grasses.

I swing on the golden rod and bushes.

I am so happy and gay.

In the winter I go south.

I fly to the rice-fields.

I eat all the rice I can.

They call me the Rice-bird.

They do not like me very well.

I think the rice grows for me.

I catch bugs and flies and worms.

I think I should have some rice too.
